In short: Ace Up is practice, not gambling. You never bet real money, and Aces have no cash value. If you gamble in real life, set limits and get help early if it stops being fun.
Practice, not gambling
Ace Up teaches blackjack strategy and card counting. You can't bet, win or withdraw real money in the app. Aces are play money with no cash value. Ace Up is for adults 18 and over.
If you gamble in real life
- Decide how much money and time you will spend before you start, and stop when you reach the limit.
- Only use money you can afford to lose. Never use money meant for rent, bills or food.
- Don't chase losses. Trying to win back what you lost usually makes it worse.
- Don't borrow money to gamble, and don't gamble when you're upset, stressed or drinking.
- Take regular breaks and keep time for other things you enjoy.
- Remember that blackjack has a house edge. Good strategy lowers it, but it can't remove the risk of losing.
Warning signs
- You spend more money or time than you planned.
- You gamble to win back money you lost.
- You borrow money, sell things or miss bills because of gambling.
- You hide your gambling or lie about it to people close to you.
- You feel restless or irritable when you try to cut down.
- Gambling hurts your work, studies, relationships or sleep.
If any of this sounds familiar, for you or someone close to you, talk to someone. Help is free.
